Who is responsible for your information?
The data controller responsible for the personal information described in this notice is JG General Building and Construction Ltd, a private limited company registered in England and Wales (company number 15172149), trading as JG General Building and Construction.
Registered office: 37 Parkside Gardens, Bristol, BS5 6UA, England. For privacy enquiries, contact jgalosconstructionltd@gmail.com or call 07811 458178. See our Business Details for full business information.
Information we receive
Depending on your enquiry and the work involved, we may receive:
- Your name, email address, telephone number and preferred contact details.
- The property address or location, project requirements, proposed timescale and information needed to discuss a quotation.
- Photographs, plans, drawings and other documents you choose to send.
- Correspondence, quotation and project records, and records of queries or complaints.
- Invoice and payment-related information if you become a customer. This website does not collect card details or take online payments.
Information is normally provided by you, or by a person acting for you, such as a project representative. If somebody gives us your details, we use them only for the relevant enquiry or project.
Please send only information relevant to the work. Avoid including identity documents, financial account details, health information or identifiable people in site photographs unless they are genuinely needed.
Website visits and technical information
The website has no enquiry form, account registration or checkout. Contact links open your telephone application, email application or WhatsApp; the website itself does not submit your enquiry.
The website contains no analytics or advertising trackers. Fonts and images are served with the website.
The website is hosted by Fasthosts Internet Ltd in the United Kingdom. Like most hosting services, its servers automatically record technical information such as IP addresses, requested pages, timestamps, browser details and error or security events. These logs are used only to deliver, maintain and protect the website and are kept by the hosting provider for a limited period under its own retention arrangements.
Why we use information and our lawful bases
- Enquiries and quotations: to understand your requirements, respond and prepare a quotation. Where you are the prospective customer, this is necessary to take steps at your request before entering a contract.
- Providing agreed services: to arrange work, communicate about the project and administer the customer relationship, where necessary to perform our contract with you.
- Business contacts and project coordination: where you represent a company or another customer, our legitimate interests are communicating with the relevant people and organising the work.
- Records required by law: to comply with applicable tax, accounting and company law duties.
- Security, complaints and legal claims: our legitimate interests in protecting the business and website, resolving concerns and establishing, exercising or defending legal claims, balanced against your rights and interests.
If we ask for consent for a separate purpose, such as publishing photographs of your project, we will explain that purpose when asking. Consent can be withdrawn at any time for future use. Contacting us about a quotation is not consent to marketing, and we do not send marketing messages.
Who may receive information
Where needed for the relevant purpose, information may be shared with people working on your enquiry or project, relevant subcontractors and suppliers, our accountant and other professional advisers, insurers, and authorities where disclosure is legally required. Only information needed for their role is shared. We do not sell personal information.
Service providers process information on our behalf for email (Google Gmail), messaging (WhatsApp, if you choose to use it) and website hosting (Fasthosts).
When you choose an external service, that provider may also process information for its own purposes under its privacy notice. You can contact us by email or telephone if you prefer not to use WhatsApp. See Google's privacy policy and WhatsApp's privacy policy.
Information processed outside the UK
The website is hosted in the United Kingdom. Our email and messaging providers, Google and WhatsApp (Meta), may process information in the United States and other countries.
Where this happens, transfers are protected by UK adequacy regulations, including the UK Extension to the EU-US Data Privacy Framework where the provider is certified, or by the International Data Transfer Addendum and standard contractual clauses included in the providers' terms. Contact us for further information about these safeguards.
How long information is kept
We keep information only for as long as it is needed for its purpose, taking account of legal duties, warranties and potential claims.
- Enquiries that do not become projects
- Up to 12 months from our last contact, then deleted.
- Customer and project records
- 6 years from completion of the work, the usual period for contract claims. Records relating to work carried out under a deed may be kept for 12 years.
- Accounting and tax records
- 6 years from the end of the financial year they relate to, as required for company tax purposes.
- Website and security logs
- Kept by our hosting provider for a limited period under its standard retention arrangements.
- Portfolio photographs
- Kept while they are used to show our work and reviewed regularly. Images are removed promptly if you ask.
Where a complaint, dispute or legal requirement justifies longer retention, it is limited to the relevant records and reviewed when that reason ends.
Project photographs and publicity
Sending photographs to help us assess a quotation does not, by itself, authorise their use in advertising or on the website.
Photographs on this website show our own work and were taken by us. We publish photographs of a customer's project only with that customer's permission. Before publishing, we check images and avoid showing identifiable people, house numbers and vehicle registrations.
If a published image identifies you or your property and you would like it removed, contact us with the page address and a description of the image and we will remove it.
Your data protection rights
Depending on the circumstances and lawful basis, you may have the right to access your personal information, correct inaccurate information, request erasure, restrict processing, object to processing based on legitimate interests, and receive certain information in a portable form.
You may withdraw consent where processing relies on it. These rights are not absolute; for example, a legal duty may require us to retain particular records. We may need information to verify your identity before dealing with a request.
To make a request, email jgalosconstructionltd@gmail.com. We will respond within one month, as required by data protection law. We do not make automated decisions or use profiling.
Questions and complaints
Please contact us if you have a question or concern about your information. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO), the UK data protection regulator.
Visit the ICO's complaints page for contact details and the complaints process.
