We carried out foundation groundwork for a house extension in Eastville, Bristol. The work involved excavation behind an existing home and arrangements for delivering concrete to the rear of the property, where the available working space was limited.
Excavating beside the existing house
We formed foundation trenches within the rear extension footprint, working close to the house, boundary lines and existing steps. These features shaped the area available for the groundwork.
An extension brings new construction directly alongside an existing building. The excavation therefore has to be considered with the original walls and the proposed extension layout, using the foundation design for that property.
Getting concrete to the working area
Access was a practical part of this job. Concrete delivery and pumping equipment were positioned at the front of the property, with a line running towards the rear work area.
For a domestic extension, arranging how materials reach the excavation is part of planning the groundwork. The delivery point and the place where concrete is needed can be some distance apart.
The foundation stage of an extension
Our work here covered the excavation and concrete delivery stage, before the extension walls and internal finishes. We undertake extension groundworks across Bristol and discuss site access alongside the proposed construction from the start.
